Dear all,
Please be advised of the following regarding WASTCA fixtures for 29 Feb 2020:
All matches scheduled on turf pitches are called off for this Saturday 29th February and these will be played as One-day matches starting at 12:30pm on Saturday 7th March.
For all remaining matches on synthetic pitches, please inspect the state of the pitches and grounds in relation to suitability to play on Saturday. Clubs and Captains should not call off Saturday’s play until the suitability for play has been assessed. Ideally, rain will ease and the grounds will be ok to play for 2 or 1-day fixtures on Saturday.
All matches originally scheduled as a 2-day match will retain their win points status of 10 points, even if re-scheduled as a one-dayer next week.
With regards to play movement, any player that plays in a One-Day Grade match on 29th Feb will not be eligible to play in Grades 1-8 next week (7th March) and any exceptions requested will be by way of a Higher-Grade Permit Application

WASTCA was pleased to welcome Kartik Kumar and Liam Bray to their Umpiring group this round as they both made their debuts. Below is the feedback from Umpire Advisor Terry Carter
Kartik Kumar
Very impressed! Kartik is a good decision maker, listens intently and acts on the information and feedback passed to him. Both captains commended him for both weeks. The more Kartik umpires at this level, the better he will get and he will become a very good umpire.
Liam Bray
Liam once again excelled in his performance. Both teams were really impressed and the other umpire said he made no mistakes throughout the game.
Terry Carter stated “We hope they are available for the rest of the season as I would definitely give them a Semi Final berth”
An outstanding start for two young umpires who will hopefully act as an example for other youngsters who are considering a future in umpiring.

On behalf of the board and the entire WASTCA fraternity we welcome these young men into our competition and wish them all the very best for the weekend and into the future.
We see this as a real positive step to bolstering our umpiring stocks, bringing some much needed youth into the umpiring ranks and an opportunity to provide a pathway for young aspiring umpires to progress into senior cricket umpiring.
This weekend will see Kartik umpiring with our Umpires advisor Terry Carter the 4th grade match between North Perth and Doubleview-Carine at Charles Veryard Reserve with Liam paired with the experienced John Manuel for the 4th grade fixture between Bassendean and Whitfords at Jubilee Reserve.
Both young men have spent several years learning the craft of umpiring in the local eastern junior competition in the mornings and are bth very keen to test and progress their skills into the senior ranks.
A warm welcome to our newest and possibly youngest ever mpires into WASTCA umpiring fraternity Kartik Kumar and Liam Bray.
The CricketWest board would like to congratulate the following players on being selected to represent CricketWest in our T20 match at the WACA on Sunday 1st March - Game times and schedule to be confirmed at a later date.
A brief training session will be held at the Wembley sports club - Pat Goodrich Reserve - 200 Selby St Wembley for the squad on Wednesday 26th February commencing at 5.30pm.
